I was thinking of all the things I could post to LJ, but I'm coming up a little short. I have a test tomorrow for which I studied a bit tonight. I missed PC (Physical Conditioning) today because there was a USAF Post wide accountability formation, which is to say they had us all check in and then leave to help out our host unit out at Goodfellow in Texas, but that won't make sense to many of you. The language goes well but only one of my friends speaks it. What does all of this mean? I'm in a good place, but some things will always suck wherever you are. Also, I'm thinking of you.

We're splitting off into new groups, meaning that the people I've spent the last fifteen weeks getting to know are not going to be sitting with me anymore. Other than that it looks like learning Farsi is going alright at the least. I'm by no means fluent, but I've been here for a mere 15 weeks, so that isn't bad. Carly is coming to visit Bran, Tony, and I this weekend, so that's news. And now the big one. I'm going to be back in FL Apr. 13- Apr. 17. Feel free to throw yourselves at me if you haven't already. Apart from that I've got nothing that makes sense to anyone who isn't in the military and all of that is griping. I'll spare you.

    <lj:music>Trigun - Stories to Tell</lj:music>

I don't think I've updated this thing since just after Basic. Life at the DLI is pretty awesome, and I'm making new friends and reuniting with old ones. Hanging out with Tony has been amazing; if I have one complaint its that everything seems to be happening so fast. I'm on leave now visiting family in NC and enjoying the chance to unwind. You'd think that we get that opportunity at the Presidio, but realistically, I haven't showered without shower shoes since before basic, and it really is the little things like that that make leave so refreshing. A lot of people are troubled during this holiday season, but I'm just riding the waves like I've done for ages. Nonetheless, I'll close by wishing everyone a stress free holiday season. Try not to let life get to you. Forget all of the bad stuff that's going on, even if that's harder than wallowing in it. There's nothing so bad that you can't take a break from it for a week or two. Consider it leave from all of your varied affairs. Like I said, no shower shoes. It is, after all, the little things that get you down; why not take a second to let the little things pick you back up? Anyway, its 0800 and I still haven't slept, so I should get to it.

Merry Christmas,
~Tim

I won't be talking to anyone for a while, so here's the deal with writing me. My parents have been given my LJ name and pass and will post my address so that you can write me if you want. I don't know how much writing I'll get the chance to do, but if you send me a letter I'll try to respond. Letters are to be in a regular envelope and should contain nothing that isn't written on regular paper. As for those of you that I didn't get the chance to see before I left, I'd really have liked to, it just didn't work out that way.

So as to not make the whole entry administrative stuff, my last couple of nights could not possibly have been better.
It took me almost 12 hours of patching to get onto MGO last night. I finally did, and the whole experience left me totally disappointed. It was basically MGO from Subsistence trying to incorporate the class building system that made CoD4 awesome and totally missing the point. Nonetheless, I find myself patching it again so that I can try again today. I blame the SVD. I don't know that I'm going to run today. I haven't slept yet. I blame nerves.

I haven't had a real update in forever. I don't even know where to start. I woke up at 4 this morning out of an action packed dream about (as I remember) zombies. I heard some noise downstairs which is what I think woke me up. Turned out my dad was replacing the burned out bulb in our Vega (Wega?) before heading off to NC for a week. I gave him a hand, but after that and seeing him off was too wide awake to sleep.

I decided that I wanted to hit up some MGO (Metal Gear Online for those of you who didn't play 3's update), but it prompted me to sign up for the Playstation Network first. I guess it isn't that bad given that it's free, but it required a system update. I kid you not, it took about 2 hours to complete. Brutal.

While that happened I decided to check out what I had missed at E3 via XPlay's podcast. Turns out there is a lot of content hitting the PS3, PCs, and 360s, though I think that PS3 had it's strongest showing in... ever? Even so, with Fallout 3 and Gears 2 coming out on 360, it was a tossup between the systems. Killzone 2 was probably the single most exciting thing that I saw, though (sorry Fallout.)

That all being covered, I headed back to my updated PS3 after my shower. Only at this point I was all pumped for a run and didn't feel like playing MGO, so I fixed up my profile and plan on hitting it up now. Oh, and, Carly, my profile pic is a seal baby. It was either that or like... icons from a game I don't even own (read any but MGS4.)

Anyway, that's my alarm clock going off now. It somehow makes me really happy that it didn't wake me. I have a lot to get done today. Call me if you want to be a part of that.

TL;DR VERSION: PS3 STILL EATS COCKS. MY MORNING WAS AWESOME. SEAL BABIES.
